“Thanks for the post on the HO and its dysfunction. I think the institutional explanation fits – after all, the political pressures, excuses and tempations to get tough has been around for decades, whereas the mess and nastiness in the HO have not. The place is now the worst kind of continental Ministry of the Interior, full of people longing to snarl ‘Your papers, please’ at foreigners, and given a uniquely UK twist by also being full of people who have made themselves prisoners of PFI companies. The HO is Sercostan. I think the answer is to sack everyone concerned with the GO HOME campaign and start re-merger talks with the MoJ, but it won’t happen.”
