We have over ten million Latino immigrants, and millions of African and Asian immigrants as well. There’s your bump right there. The question is, will they assimilate in a generation or so so that their children’s birthrate will be about the same as native Americans? Given the country’s enormous success at absorbing immigrants, one would hope and expect so.

The rest of the world, however, is another matter. If food and fuel continue to rise in price, that will serve as a significant disincentive to childbirth.
