When Diana died, I got fairly fed up with men telling me this was all about the projection of other griefs. Alot of women liked and admired her, for all her evident faults, as women doing frequent qualitative research knew.

But beyond that, it’s undeniably a national moment and many people want to be part of it, perhaps part of the pent up demand to be together that made every live audience I was part of after lockdowns wild with joy.

Agree Robert Rae’s post is charming. Curiosity then sunk cost then it’s a thing.
